Cry of Fear Questions and Answers / Cry of Fear Speedrunning
« on: 27 October, 2019, 01:24:56 PM »
I was curious to know if anyone has ever brought up this topic (Also hi, been many many months, possibly over 1-2 years since I touched this forum), but what are your guys' thoughts on people speedrunning Cry of Fear?

I'm actually going to speedrun it myself once I beat Nightmare Mode for S-Rank (First time beating Nightmare as well lol) and get the other 3 endings for the rest of the hoodies before doing both Unlockables and No Unlockables runs of the game, and if I feel insane enough, a Nightmare Mode and an S-Rank Nightmare mode speedrun if I feel like the other's were too easy, although no unlockables S-Rank Nightmare sounds fun xD

Anyways, like I said, what do you think about this? and if interested, would you take a chance at speedrunning the game, provided you can learn some of the strategies that come around?

Well by the time June 9th hits I'll be officially starting summer. Also since I got a good screen recorder that can capture what I'm playing, I'll actually try getting into CoF speedrunning again that way I can actually do something while I have my summer. Sorry I never responded in months because I actually forgot about this forum but I remembered and I'm here now!

You can still find the old Simon model if you enter the TL Trading location and use the package on the first door to your left.

I did play the custom campaigns and some were just really short and there's a crap ton of slots for other custom ones that could've been added as well but you guys never really updated the game in a while and I actually tried to see the PDP easter egg but I found out within the first week of playing before getting the crash patch (Yeah, insanity) that you guys took it out and it was a little sad to see it taken out but I'd still enjoy the game nonetheless. The one custom campaign that I keep playing is The Stairway because of the variety of weapons and apparently a hidden door behind a wall with a giant head I can't kill can take me back to the original giant hallway room which was kinda odd because it would seem that there was supposed to be something happening but just didn't work. Still I keep playing it.

I'm surprised the forum for a game I saw 3 years ago being played by PDP is still at least active, I never got a chance to play this game until I would say about 8 months ago because of terrible computer plus I forgot about the game when it never did run and I'll still like every aspect of it even though now I'm semi speed running through it with everything being bright and pretending to be a Counter-Strike pro at the Saxon avenue train station area every time I make it there XD. It would've been awesome if there was CoF Multiplayer Deathmatch servers because with the mechanics of all the guns, it would've changed the FPS scene as a whole if that became a thing because then people would have to rely on how they move around and how often they shoot to get the best results even though there could be some hackers making it difficult but I still thought it would've been a good idea. If none of you noticed about one thing about the guns recoil is that if you do the A D A D strat from CS:GO into CoF for some odd reason the recoil goes to the maximum point which doesn't happen when you just move in general because it would also require you to shoot the weapon you're using to make it happen, also another interesting thing is that if you play the game for a while the AI bugs and sees you through the walls and it gets annoying that I have to restart the game and also have to deal with the women trying to force Simon to be killed when I can't see them at all or even close to them and it's more noticeable in the train station, at Saxon Avenue and a couple other locations. I also recently found out that the window where you see the suicide enemy just before you get into the area with the college if you shoot him in the head when your crosshair is aimed at the middle frame of that window where you can't see him, you can actually kill him and it also explains why he also shoots you when it's obvious a window is in his way. Lastly if you crouch while moving  or you crouch just after you shoot a clip of bullets, the recoil doesn't go back to normal but you can simply use the iron sight as an alternative fix or simply stand back up but if you do add some extra recoil while crouched it actually doesn't stay while the initial recoil does, very strange things I've found in my 8 months playing this and I'd still play it like it was my life if I wasn't so lazy on everything :p
