Reload script - "bind, alias" script
« on: 16 March, 2012, 06:57:50 AM »
Many games promote "reload your guns as often as possible". If you play CoF, then (let's say) AlanW, then CoF, then again AlanW. It is difficult to switch from one system to another.

This scripts prevents accidentally pressed R key - it's not counted as "+reload".

Scenarios:

  • Starting state: you have a gun, 15/15 ammo inside current mag., 5 mags left inside Simon's pocket.

You play for a while and you shoot a "facebook monster", then, accidentally, you pressed R key.
Simon will ignore your "reload demand".

Ending state: 10/15 ammo inside current mag., 5 mags left inside Simon's pocket.
Alternate (without my script) ending state: 15/15, 4 mags left

  • Starting state: 10/15, 5 mags left

You are shooting a "taller monster", 10 bullets isn't enough, now you have 0/15. You pressed R key, if nothing happens, press it again, Simon reloads his weapon. Two more bullets and "taller" dies, again, at the end, you pressed R key.

Ending state: 13/15, 4 mags left
Alternate ending state: 15/15, 3 mags left

  • Starting state: 13/15, 4 mags left

You killed one monster with four bullets, and pressed R key.
You killed another monster with three bullets, and pressed R key.
Freaky monster appeared behind you, next three bullets goes away, then again you pressed R key.

Ending state: 3/15, 4 mags left
Alternate ending state: 15/15, 1 mags left

Installation:
Place file inside CoF folder.

PS: please NO trolling, NO pointless arguing.
PSS: I know this script has downsides and isn't for everyone.

I like this! But would it glitch a bit in co-op or something?

Edit: Oh, I thought this was a reload thing where if you reload, you keep the ammo in the clip. Nvm then, I almost never have any reload problems.

Personally, I never have a problem with reloading by accident. But this is still a good idea.

I doubt it'll glitch in co-op, looking at the commands used. Something like this would have been great to have in the game itself though.

Nope. No glitches.

@ReaperTeh
yes, I can adapt too, but slowly. I always change my controls settings. For example: e key for "melee", f key for "use", right mouse for iron sight. But when I play "reload your guns as often as possible" games, and then CoF, I have to repeat few times to get used to.

I think this is a great addition and is a must. I personally hate potentially losing an entire clip of ammo when I reload after having shot once. Irritating as like you said I've developed a twitch habit due to FPS games. Great job, keep up the good work.

Good script for dumb players like me. I play CS 1.6 sometimes and the reloading system is different there. So it's useful. TY.
