Nah, I'd prefer it if we just do PMs. I'd rather not use steam atm

Ok, no problem!

Still working on "The Escape".

Finally got M41B on a better looking animation, no lasersight anymore though.

Recently tried playing "The Stalin Subway" with this mod i made, since the computer i'm using is quite old, i didn't really have too much problem playing the game as with other people (Black textures or Audiere.dll.).

The second game is actually enjoyable in Easy mode. I managed to get through the Red Square chase on the first try. Escort mission, same thing. Pretty much only one death quick load.

I'm also making modifications to the second game, which is here...

An update for my ToD remod.

Update includes :

- Changed Colt and Tokarev animations.

- Changed some sounds.

- Added additional sounds for weapons (drawing, grenade throwing, such.).

- Re-UV-ed some models, hopefully the character models won't have black lines anymore.

- Added detail texturing for some of the maps.

Hello everybody! This is my first post on this forum but I've been checking it since the launch of CoF.

I'm working on a game in my sparetime and have been doing that for some time now. Here is some wip screens and videos.

I feel like I'm losing inspiration on my project. Been working on it for 3 years and still have no idea where I'm going with it. Problem is that I make a map and have no where I can put it in the game. I overthink too many outcomes. If I do this, will I be copying someone else's idea? If I do this in the story, will it be too similar to someone elses story? If I implement this mechanic, will it be copying someone else without me even knowing? When I overthink shit like that, I just lose all inspiration.

Well, I think most of us developers have been in that situation. I've had many projects going to the trash bin because I lost my inspiration and wanted to do someting else. But I think that's a part of the learning process when making games. I'm just speaking from my point of view but I think there are others who feel the same. I've learned that it is important to believe in your project and never give up working on it even if you don't really feel like it. The inspiration always goes up and down, but instead of having multiple half finished projects it's better to make someting polished and done. :)

I know the feeling that everything you make should be unique and new, but that is a very hard task to do and often you'll just stand still in the production when thinking like that to much. In fact you'll always get inspiration from somewhere when you create stuff, i.e. I like the atmosphere from the Silent Hill series and I like the monster designs so my game will have some kind of resemblance of those games.

When it comes to the story you can always work on it in different angles. Me myself have a hard time to nail my story in the beginning, it kind of comes alongside my creation of scenes in the game. I get inspiration from 3d assets I make and so on. The further I make progress in the production the pieces of the puzzle comes together.

What I want to say is, work on you game in the way it works for you, don't strive to be too unique because it's pretty pointless and will make the production very slow.

Yeah, I wish I could make progress faster too, sometimes you got to prioritize other things first. My life is pretty bad atm because I'm forced to live in my parents basement. Lived in a nice apartment last year and worked on a self funded game company with some other dudes, we released a game on steam, but heck, it's hard to make a living out of it..

I'm using Unity. I didn't like the engine before I tried it because of all slender-like games that all looks the same. But it's a really neat engine to work with.
