And now to get back on topic, any success with the server browser?
Game-monitor.net dropped Cry of Fear as a listing option. We need to get something started up.
Pretty urgent now, as the current-workaround is not broken.

Funny, I just played a game connecting from Game-monitor. But are you sure you can get the ingame server browser to work?
In between disappearing off to RPG gaming sessions and KAWAII DESU BULLSHIT ANIME binges, I tend to log in once in a while...

ruMple, how does the launcher run the mod itself?
Is it what triggers the mod directory, I have an idea.
I just need to know if the game autoloads the cryoffear/ resource directory,
or does the launcher user the -mod variable upon startup?

It uses 'setgamedir' and '-mod' I think, but you can check all the launch options used with process explorer.

Process explorer? If it shows what programs are launched with what options variables,
I want it.

Here's a list i made a while ago with most of the variables the launcher uses.
-w WIDTH                              -resolution
-h HEIGHT                              -resolution
-game CryOfFear
-num_edicts 2048
-gl                                          -Runs the game in OpenGL
-32bpp                                   -32bit Mode
-16bpp                                   -16bit Mode
-launchapp                             -removes the "Launch game from launcher" notice when running game.
-windowed                             -windowed mode.
-no3dmenu                            -Uses 2D menu.

...if this is of use to anyone at all...

Ok, thanks goner. Thanks for the -launchapp, now I can do without the launcher. For the rest, I now know the places where I am supposed to put the files, thanks.

I had the stuff ready to test, never got around to it. It's because I just full system-restored my PC.
Starting fresh, erasing the clutters.

Apparantly, servers in the LAN tab works in the Steam server browser (Steam -> View -> Servers).

Public servers added to your favorites works there too. Although you can't filter on Cry of Fear:
