Cry of Fear - Information (contains spoilers!)
« on: 07 March, 2012, 01:16:18 AM »
Information

So I've seen that people are interested in a couple of things, especially monsters, so I've decided to make a thread about that. I will first post how every monster looks like and what their names are. If you have anything more that you want me to put here, just post a comment about it!

Awesome, thanks for posting this. Reckon you could tell us where you got Simon's hoodie design from?

Awesome! I like knowing the names of them. But since I am used to some of the names me and my friend came up with, we are going to stick with those. But we didn't name ALL OF THEM. We WILL use these names for things we didn't give names to. Like, the Human Flower and Watro, we just called that a tree thing. Taller, we just called him a Giant. Book Simon, Nightmare Simon. Crazy woman, Floating Wedding Groom. Stranger, Bookhead Zombie. Hanger, Dead women thing. Flier, Bed Zombie. Suicider, Gun Zombie. Baby, Suicide Spear. And Last but not least, Running Crazy, Wedding Groom.

I'm interesting in figuring out what each monster is supposed to represent to Simon

I've come up with some things for some of the monsters like the Carcass and the Sawrunner but thats about it  :joebiden:

The bandaged enemies might be based on other hospital patients Simon saw.  I don't know how close Simon ever was to the maternity ward, but that might explain the babies.

Some of the monsters seem bound or trapped in some way because Simon feels trapped in his wheelchair.

Do we even know if they actually represent anything? Why can't they just be warped realities of everyday something-or-others he expects?

That's probably true for some enemies, but the fact that a few enemies kill themselves serves as a pretty clear sign that at least some of them are symbolic, even if it's just those few.  Not to mention Simon is writing about all of this as a means of dealing with the issues in his life (but then again, we're never directly told that we're playing through Simon's written "cognitive therapy," are we?).

Warped reality of general things seems like more of a David Leatherhoff thing.

I like that it's open to interpretation though, so I think it's great that you see things differently  :)
