Play Resident Evil: Cold Blood!
« on: 20 March, 2014, 09:14:27 AM »
Do you want more of us? Why not play our other mod called Resident Evil: Cold Blood. It's another mod developed by us, Team Psykskallar, and was released back in 2007. The mod is co-op, and is set in the Resident Evil universe.

Be aware though, since the mod is using features that Windows Vista/7/8 is not supporting, the mod can get a little buggy. But there is ways around it! Follow this guide on how to get it to work:

What you need installed:

  • Steam
  • Half-Life 1

1. Download RE:CB here: http://www.moddb.com/mods/resident-evil-cold-blood/downloads/resident-evil-cold-blood-beta-2

2. Install it.

3. Restart Steam.

4. Launch RE:CB from the Steam Games Library.

5. Set your settings in Options. It is important you do this, as you need to configure your settings before you do step 6.

6. Go to your Half-Life folder, located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Half-Life. From there, right-click hl.exe, and go to Properties. In the tab Comtatibility, check the box "Run this program in compatibility mode for:", and choose "Windows 98 / Windows Me".

7. Now you can play the mod properly. However, if you try to change the options settings, the game will crash. In order to set the options, you need to uncheck the "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" box in the hl.exe properties.

8. In order to play with your friends in a server, someone needs to host one. There are different ways of doing this. Either you have to port forward your router (which there are several tutorials on), or you need to use a program called Hamachi. There are many tutorials on how to do this. The steps are the same as Counter-Strike, Sven Co-op or any other Half-Life mod.

Enjoy!

I would really love to play this with friends, but sadly, i don't have HL, and i have a snakephobia while you guys practically put all of those creeps all over the maps.

I had to BSPEdit them out, along with getting rid of the models and sounds so i can play peacefully, yeah, i have problems.

I did play all of the maps though after doing that, and honestly, the game is easier with friends, i played recb_mansion alone, and god, the last part with the respawning hunters was when i finally cracked! Along with other maps which requires you to open something slowly while something is hunting you.

My favorite map has to be recb_streets, i keep using the shovel all the way through.

Edit out the cool stuff? :joebiden:
I really loved how the maps were designed. No useless junk, well thought puzzles which in some cases made me pull my hair (that hasn't happened long time)... But the most frustrating thing were the respawning enemies. Especially those flylike creatures...
Now imagine if RECB was finished. If it had a real Single Player campaign. I feel bad the source code was lost... :stig:

Sweet. I still have this old thing knocking around in my hard drive. Someone really should host a game. Anterly can port forward but he's in UK.

I'd love to play this mod.
And it would be so fucking awesome if all of us in the forum can do a co-op together.

But I don't have Half-Life 1 (I had to torrent some HL shit that didn't even have HL and installed Cry of Fear v1.2 in it to play it)

This is a really good representation of a HL based Resident Evil game, most of the glitches are on single player mode. The only thing that keeps this game from being a knock out hit for me is the lack of anyone playing it. If any of you guys want to play a match or two send me a message and I'll host a game.

It's a shame that this mod isn't being developed anymore.

I haven't tried this mode since the infamous Half-Life patch came out that broke a lot of shit. Is this mod in working order still? haven't looked too much into HL news since i was in the army so i dunno if some patch has come out that fixed stuff.  :stig:

Just put it in compatibility with Win 98/ME. It should work, it does for me.
