I originally posted this because I had the problem of the flashlight not working, but I figured out what I did wrong. Here is my original post:
Hello. I have searched the forum's existing threads on this topic, but none had a resolution for my issue.
When I play Cry of Fear (installation file downloaded from cry-of-fear.com, update to version 1.2 applied), the flashlight on the cell phone doesn't work.
Solutions I've heard of for this program:
1) Re-install the game. -Did not work for me, even though I un-installed and re-installed it multiple times.-
2) OpenGL32.dll file was renamed. -No, the file is the correct name.-
3) Verify the files through Steam. -Tried this, Steam says it should be good to go.-
4) Dynamic lighting needs to be turned on:
4a) Through the "Advanced Settings" menu in the main menu of the game. -This option does not exist. I can get to the menu mentioned, but there is no option for dynamic lighting.-
4b) By typing "gl_dynlight 1" into the console. -This didn't work either, as dynamic lighting is already set to "on" according to the console.-
Please help me? I can't even get through the apartment complex in the beginning because I can't see anything
In a moment of sheer genius, I decided that perhaps I needed to restart my computer. I did. And now my flashlight works. So here's what I did:
1) Uninstall and re-install game, then update to version 1.2 using the Launch App.
2) In-game, open the console and type "gl_dynlight 1" and press "enter".
3) Restart computer.
I hope this helps other people who are dumb like me and can't operate a flashlight!
