Simon's Book: The Chronicles
« on: 21 April, 2012, 06:01:38 PM »

Name is not final btw.

So initially I wanted to create a campaign that directly tied in with the Cry of Fear storyline, like an "alternate" storyline of some sort. After realizing that this task could be considerably difficult, I decided to take another approach. This new campaign would exist in the same universe of the Single Player campaign, but indirectly. Chronicles takes place during the time that Simon is writing his book, as instructed by Doctor Purnell. While the main game elaborates on the story that Simon wrote, I am making this campaign with the assumption that Simon also wrote about other "episodes" and hallucinations that he had while he was recording his thoughts and experiences. Chronicles will elaborate on these visions.

It being a chronicles means that none of the chapters (or at least most of them) will be directly connected per se. The way I am planning to piece all of them together is through the use of a "hub". The beginning of the story takes place in Simon's home. It is not the same house used in Cry of Fear but is a house that is closely modeled after my own home. Different parts of the house will serve as portals to the hallucinations that Simon wrote about in his book. (As you may be able to tell, I was inspired by Silent Hill 4: The Room for this one).

As of right now the house is pretty much done, with just normal mapping and some misc details being left. I will do my best to work on this campaign as often as I can. I LOVE horror games, and grew up with all the classics (RE, Silent Hill etc). With Cry of Fear I can make a horror game of my own! Anyway, enjoy the pictures I've got to offer so far, and please note that they are not final.

INTRODUCTION
Quote
One more word. One more sentence. One more page. All those doctors ever told me was to keep writing this damn book. Ever since the "accident", I've been holed up in my room. I just can't stand it, the musty stench of the air, the monotonous flicking of my pen, the ringing in my ears. It's all driving me insane.

What more is there to live for? No one wants a cripple, a worthless one at that. I guess that's why I write this book. My story, my thoughts, my experiences... and hopefully, my ending.

Here starts another chapter, a long, dark, and twisted journey through the rest of my miserable life.

PROGRESS:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Overall

Introduction

Hub - Home Sweet Home

Episode 01 - The Descent into Madness

Episode 02 - Echoes in the Darkness

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here are some pictures of the house (the gateway map)

Yeah the fans spin too :) and the very first picture is the Simon's room (the starting point).

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated!! Thanks :)

Looks neat! A cool twist would be to have you play as wheelchair Simon while in the hub and then 'turn into' Book Simon when you play an episode. If you do you'll need to remove some chairs  :joebiden:

Let me know if you need some custom voice over done too, I'll gladly help ^^

but about the mod, the levels are looking really good so far and the story seems interesting. Can't wait to play this, also about the title. You should just call it "Simon's Book"..the chronicles part just sounds gay  :yow:

Okay i think i got an idea for the story.

Maybe we could play a segment where Simon finds the car that hit him, and then tries to find the driver?

I was looking forward to finding more about the driver in the beginning of CoF (since he drove away)
But in the end when all was revealed, i was a little disappointed when nothing was revealed about the driver... if you don't count ending 5  :joebiden:

Oozing with potential, if the mod gets a featured custom campaign option, this will defienetly be on there.

So I was messing around with the wheelchair mode function, and I realized that you cannot interact with anything (pick up items, check notes etc) while in the mode. Is there a way to make this possible or will that require coding?

Thanks for all the support as well everyone :)

It would require coding, but I could add it for you if you like.
