How to install Cry of Fear

How to install Cry of Fear

Step 1
First of all, you need to have Steam. Download Steam here: http://store.steampowered.com/

Step 2
You need to have Half-Life 1 installed on Steam, if you don't have Half-Life 1, simply buy it from Steam. It's cheap and worth the price: http://store.steampowered.com/app/70

If you already have Half-Life 1 on a CD, simply register your Half-Life 1 CD key into Steam, and it will be available for you on Steam for free.

Step 3
Just to ensure no errors will appear when you install Cry of Fear, launch Half-Life 1 from Steam. Once it's up and running, just close it down.

Step 4
Time to download Cry of Fear, you do it here:

Step 5
Once downloaded, install it. Just press next, it should install correctly if you did Step 3.

Step 6
Once installed, a shortcut will be generated on your desktop, called "Launch Cry of Fear". What it does is that it launches a program that will enable every configuration you need for Cry of Fear to work. If you don't launch it through that program, you might get some errors.

Step 7 (optional)
If you want to have Cry of Fear up do date, launch the Cry of Fear Launch App (Step 6), and press Check for updates. It will download and install the latest patch for you automatically.

The music from the trailer is music from the upcoming patch, so it's not available publicly yet. I don't know what the plans are, if any, to make it available for people who wish to purchase it.
