In apartment at chapter 1, after you get the basement key and rope in the 4th floor's room, if you leave the basement key there and then going down the rope, seems there is no way going back to the 4th floor's room to get the basement key anymore, as the only way to get there is using the side elevator from 1st floor which is not working anymore afterwards (because it stucks at 4th floor now), and the rope can't be climbed up too, so you would end up getting stuck in game.

Could this be a game design bug? I guess player should be allowed to climb up the rope or prevent the player to go down the rope without basement key.

Well, that is 100% your fault. You left a key behind.  :stig:

You're not even that far in, I can be done with the Chapter 1 boss in like 30 minutes, So just start again.

I don't intentionally left the key, I already beat the game many times, I'm reporting a bug here. If you play normal game, most people won't come to that circumstance as usually there are still spaces in inventory. But recently I just tried playing nightmare mode and I had full inventory due to the amount of items (phone, camera, axe, tape, package, glock). To get the basement key at that time I have to drop an item, and it would be glock as it's least useful. But then I was thinking if I can go back to take the glock again, and then I aware you can't go back to that room anymore.

So if you drop an item at that room and go down the rope, you will never retrieve the item anymore. If the dropped item is the basement key then you will become stuck. A good designed game should prevent this to be happened.

Oh now I see. Great I feel like an ass ;-;

Yeah that seems like that would be a problem.

Also same thing could also happen in apartment revisit part if you drop the ladder (the second one for going back out) on the area that can't be revisited e.g. the long corridor before the room with big head or the room itself.

The combination of item dropping mechanic with area that can't be revisited later could cause an issue, I wonder if Resident Evil 0 has same issue too (haven't played it yet)
