Cry of Fear Stand-alone not working on Windows 10 stuck on little side menu

If anybody can help with this I would appreciate it so much. I have Windows 10 and my computer should have no problem running the Cry of Fear standalone from steam. But whenever I run it it starts up and goes through the normal startup screen but then it always goes to the little side menu on the left and if I click on something it loads for a moment and then goes back to that little menu. So I can’t actually play the game. I used to love this game and I never got to finish it so I’m stuck. Somebody please help!!

I had the same issue,
I solved it by selecting 2D menu and it finally loaded

I used to see that sometimes but a reboot fixed it. I havent had it happen in a while and it was infrequent enough that I never pinned down why it happened.
