Can't open the game anymore

Hello. I'm having a very strange issue with Cry Of Fear.
I've always played it without any problems then i lost internet connection for a few months and at the same time an update for the game came out on steam so i basically wasn't able to play since i could't install the update. Now i have my internet back, i installed the update but the game still doesn't want to boot. I did a check up for the game files with steam and it said that tehre was a missing file and that it has been restored. So i thought that, that was the problem all along and triedagain to start the game, but nothing, again the same error. I tried a lot of times but nothing changes. The error shown doesnt have anything particular, the game just crashes. It says "Half-Life launcher stopped working".
I thought about uninstalling and reinstalling the game again but im not sure if i want to do it and i dont want to love my saves. I copyied my SAVE folder in my desktop. Should i do it?
I visited the forum looking for some answers but i didn't find anything.
Please i really need some help.

Sounds like you should reinstall the game, keep in mind even if the game stops responding during launch if you give it time it will usually still go through, so wait it out for a minute and if it doesn't work, then you should reinstall.

Hello i tried uninstalling and re installing the game so so many times but nothing changes. All teh graphic drivers are updated, i have half life installed i really don't knwo what to do to make this game work

Have you tried verifying the game files? (right click on Cry Of Fear in library > properties > verify integrity of game files). There's always a chance a program on your computer modified the DLL by accident.
