Mac wine
« on: 25 December, 2013, 08:00:11 AM »
Hello. I am trying to run COF via wine. The game it self runs but you might be familiar with the no dynamic lighting. So I have for the past few months working my ass off trying to fix the dynamic lighting. I have a Intel 3000 HD with OpenGL.

So here is what I've done...

1. Downloaded a fresh clean OpenGL32.dll

2. I ran it in -gl mode.

3. I reinstalled the game. (note I'm using the standalone version)

4. I typed in the gl_dynight 1.

5. I running in windows 7 mode.

Please do not answer me things like boot camp or by a PC because I am not going to abandon my Mac for a piece of shit, seriously.  :chainsaw:

Can I please have some reasonable answers I am killing my self with this and I WANT TO PLAY THIS GAME!

You need Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0

I've installed MS.net 4.0. The error messages have stopped appearing but still no dynamic lighting. Should I reinstall it?

Ah.

I am not going to abandon my Mac for a piece of shit, seriously.  :chainsaw:
How ironic. Mate, you're going to have to try using Boot Camp. I'm not really familiar with Wine, but maybe it's because some of the required things don't work properly with Mac Wine.

I really can't do that because I am low on storage. Say. Can I possibly install the mod instead of using the standalone version? I have Half-Life for Mac.

I'd be even more surprised if you got the mod working. The last half life 1 update screwed mods up in general. The CoF standalone is a different half life build than the mod version. Also the mod was never made to work with Mac, so you're facing the same set of problems.

Well. I dunno so ok I'll give it a try. I will post something if it works. Cheers!

So ok I've installed the mod, but for some reason it was asking me install Half-Life though I already did. So I've just quit with the mod and went back to the standalone version and I had the same problems as when I first posted. So I;m basically back at square 1.
