It's an intended mechanic that enemies can hurt eachother :)

The other instance of enemies killing themselves occurs every time you get too close to them.

Yeah, the enemies who are shooting, are called "suiciders". They are meant to blow up and cause major damage once shooting themselves, but for some reason, they are not causing any damage. :barry:
