Hi guys, yesterday i installed the CoF through Steam, i was really excited because it's a great survival horror game. But for my surprise, when i get the glock gun, i don't hear any fire sound :-\. Then quickly, I searched in forums for a solution, and i realized that the music did not work either :o. Nothing helped to me. The 64 bit fix, the compatibility mode for 32 bits, update of drivers.
After search in the forum, i found a answer what says the bug could be being caused by the Steam Game Overlay. Then i start the game, and while it's running, I killed the GameOverlayUI.exe process in the task manager.
Magically the music was started and the glock plays fire sound! :D so i closed the game and all steam process for recheck, when i run the game again the error appears to be permanently fixed! :)

Well guys, that's is my fix, I hope it can help many more people with the same problem.

My specs:

Intel Core i3 3117U
4gb of RAM
Windows 8.1 x64
Intel HD4000

Good bye.

Had the same problem, and i tried to shut down the overlay process, it just kept restarting itself. Couldn't get it to work :/
