CoF freezes and stops working

Hello,

So, I've downloaded this game after so long time of playing it on my old laptop. I started playing, I reached the second level without any kind of lag (60fps) but once I enter the first door outside (to know the code number of the other door), the game freezes at the loading screen until it stops working. I tried to re install it but for nothing.

Any help?

Are you using 64bit or 32bit?
Are you using gamebooster?
Do you have the .exe running in any compatibility modes? (Right click, properties, compatibility)

I'm using a 64bit Windows 7. No gameboosters and no compatibility modes. (Downloaded from Steam).

Try messing with some of the game's advanced settings, you should also try deleting the entire game folder and then installing it as your renderer may have been corrupted (A normal re-install wouldn't re-install the renderer). Are you experiencing any other issues with the game?
Do you have any other programs running that could modify the game in any way? (You already said you're not using gamebooster, are you using something similar? Or fraps or something? Try rebooting your computer and immediately trying cry of fear, you could have some kind of program open that's causing this issue.)

Also, install the 64-bit patch, that might fix it for ya.

Thank you very much, Tordiff! The 64bit patch just solved the problem!
It works now like charm.

Have fun with the game! Remember to use the updated steam version, unless you're running Linux because I'm pretty sure the mod version can actually be played on Linux while the standalone version cannot.
